Summer Memories in the Peak District

When mornings mean getting up that extra five minutes earlier to leave time to de-ice your car before leaving for work in the morning and with the nights continuously getting darker, it's hard to remember those distant summer memories. I prefer winter over summer any day but I do miss being able to nip out not wearing a coat, eating bbqs and endless days from time to time. Sam and I have been lucky to have three getaways together so far this year, between the rest of our advenutures; a trip to Mexico and San Diego, a trip to York and at the end of the summer we found time to squeeze in a mini break to the Peak District. I thought I would share some of our snapshots from the Peak District because I haven't yet done that, I hope you like them!

We all love a bit of protecting animals!

We happened across a tiny shop that sold tapestry rugs and wooden storage boxes from Arabia and Iraq. There were some lovely pieces! We were chatting to the lady and when she found out we were engaged she said that her shop does gift lists...For newly weds, though, there really is only so much you can do with rugs and boxes!

There are some beautiful English landscapes. Rolling hills and all that...

Our snack between all the meals we had at the hotel! Full English breakfasts, three course dinners and afternoon teas with scones don't leave you very hungry during the rest of the day!

This is such a pretty name, it makes me think about rainbows!

My Costa hot chocolate tip of the day: I always find their hot chocolates too rich so always go for an added shot. Peppermint makes for a yummy Christmassy flavour, then there's toffee which is nice but not as good Starbuck's caramel hot chocolate. My favourite has to be vanilla syrup, though!

The second night of our trip didn't include dinner so we went on a walk to the little, old pub down the road. It turned out to be a tiny, traditional Spanish restaurant inside.. So tiny that they served a maximum of only 2 or 3 groups at a time!

Our journey home involved many interesting stops.. From a primark shopping spree in Manchester, lunch in a bar on Canal Street (Yes, we had a lot of funny looks from the waiters - enough said!) and stumbling upon this antique shop.
